Mark Zuckerberg is in Vancouver. But why? Mark Zuckerberg is in Vancouver. But why?

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is hanging out on the wet West Coast here in Vancouver.

Evidenced online by a Facebook status update (that had location on), Zuck is definitely in town but the "why" of it all is unclear.

Vancouverites were surprised to see the hoodie-clad social network creator strolling down Hastings Street in the historic Gastown yesterday.

Could he be here for the acquisition of a Vancouver startup? Perhaps. Opening night for the Vancouver Canucks? Unless he has a thing for the Penguins—sans Crosby, too—probably not. Maybe he just likes how pretty Vancouver is (although he's a month late on catching any rays).

BBC News - Updates improve Facebook and Twitter connections

Facebook members will soon be able to pipe their profile directly to a connected Twitter account.

The social networking giant said it was working on the feature in a document sent to developers about upcoming changes.

Before now linking to Twitter was only possible from Facebook pages which are meant for bands, public figures and businesses.

Facebook said linking was coming "soon" but gave no specific date.

The mention of the forthcoming connection to Twitter came as Facebook unveiled its "subscription" system which works in a similar fashion to Twitter's "follower" feature.

CBC has launched a branded Facebook social game, one that includes special coupon offers and other incentives for fans of its popular series Heartland.

Heartland kicks off its 5th season on Sunday, September 18, 2011, and the app- called Heartland Ranch - will let players tend to injured horses and expand their interaction with the main characters from the show.

Building on game mechanics found in other Facebook games, Heartland Ranch incorporates themes and characters from the series. Building on popular social media tolls, the app is expected to trigger viral activity including peer recommendation, invites and gifting among viewers and friends.

Tom Hastings, Creative Head of Drama, CBC says the engagement factor of the game will attract new viewers to the site and the show.

In return, Heartland episodes will now include special codes within the broadcast that viewers can use to unlock special offers, either virtual items or 'real-world' offers.
