There are a lot of things one can do in 54 hours. For some people that’s time spent on their average workweek, a camping trip, a road trip, and in some Hollywood star’s case, a random weekend wedding in Vancouver. Last weekend, for some entrepreneurs, 54 hours was the amount of time they had to make a team, build a company, and present it to a room of judges, company’s, media outlets, and potential investors. Buckle up, Vancouver Startup Weekend just hit BC – here’s the inside scoop.

2011 BC Angel of the Year Boris Wertz says being Canadian might just be the best way to break into Silicon Valley and 19 Canadian startups are about to find out if he's right.
The C100 announced the lucky startups to participate in the upcoming 48 Hours in the Valley event from June 25-27 and the companies selected span from coast-to-coast.

Startup Weekend offers a great learning experience. While learning is good, actually launching at startup is even better—and doing it in 54 hours is head spinning. It’s been estimated that startups incubated at these events have raised more than $30 million in outside funding. Some of the funded include Zaarly, Scanadu, LaunchRock, Foodspotting, and Cloudbot. And two companies even got acquired: Keepstream and Volly.
With Vancouver StartupWeekend planning its third event in August 17, a question comes up: “what’s happening with the winners from November’s event?” We caught up with Rob Atwell one of the co-founders of MyBestHelper. After topping 13 other teams and winning the November event they’re still going strong.
